ive been checking out some supras and was wondering if anyone knew the engine model of the 1986,87, and 88 supra models...also is this a reliable car, or will i buy it and have to be switching out many parts?

The 86.5 had the 7MGE N/A 3.0 straight-six engine. Starting in 1987 you could get them with either the same 7MGE N/A 3.0 or the 7M-GTE turbocharged 3.0.

The car is reliable IF it's taken care of and gets regular, routine (for the most part) maintenance. If it's been abused or neglected by previous owners there is literally no telling what you're getting into until you really start checking it out good.

If you're serious about getting one and getting/keeping it running, be prepared. They can be a challenge.
