Need info about the toyota supra
Hello, i am looking to get a supra for my new car, only because i have heard that they are pretty easy to customize, and fairly cheap to get into the high Horsepower range.
First of all, is this correct? And secondly, which year / make of the supra would be the most customizable and best car to get up into the high horsepower? Also, how much would it cost to get around 500HP into one of these cars? Thank you very much. |

Personally, I'd have to say you've been lied to by blind fans... The earlier generations of Supra are dirt cheap but generally have aged quite poorly, been thoroughly beaten up and require a ton of work and if you're paying a mechanic a small fortune to just get into half way decent shape.
The MKIV Supra is rock solid and very easy to get more power out of, but they're not at all what I'd call "cheap". Do NOT start out with a non-turbo Supra thinking you'll just swap it all over... there are a lot of differences and in the end it's not worth the effort and often costs more to accomplish with good results. That said, they're a LOT of fun and have a LOT of potential. Just don't get one to build if it is going to be your only car, your can't turn your own wrenches, your budget is tight, or you do not have a good basic understanding of repair and modification of automobiles... in that case buy a Honda that you won't cry over when it grenades.
