Default fault codes on a newly re-headed supra

introduction;
hello every1, nice to meet. had my supra a year and still wont part with it. tho thats a close thing. last night i hated it. this car's giving me a nervious twitch ... 86 mkiii supra with the newer 7mgte engine. as standard as a shot glass 'cept for the slightly advanced exhaust cam.

problem;
blown head gasket is repaired ( the people who replaced the bent valves, planed and ported the head suggested the cam for overlap ), now its idling at 2k ( i think that's because of the timing that im having trouble setting ... light wont work at 2k. had it almost right but went to bring it back a tooth and got confused. its too late and im too overworked ) also its bringing up the fault codes 43 and 51. i am looking, just havn't found a list of codes yet.

51 is an altitude meter and has been there for a while, don't know if it'll ever get fixed. 43 is new. im sure i havn't missed any plugs around the motor but yea ... little help ?

51 is tps

43 = no starter signal

can i ask why you advanced the exhaust cam?
there's no real need... set it back to stock and set your ign timing to 10BTDC and your idle should go back to normal unless you have vacuum leaks etc

let me know if you need anything further

start signal ? put a booster relay on the starter to solve the problem i had with the starting. havn't needed to check the fault codes since then, that could be it.

put cam timing back to norm, ended up with spark timing at TDC and idle at about 12 hundred. moved timing back a bit and it sped up. ill check for leaks ... its blown back a few times in this whole stage of trying to get it going -ness that has taken so long ( heh scared the crap outta our battery stock man last week when it blew a blue flame at him thru the disconnected 3000 pipe i was hoping for a big *bwhuum* ). that coulda knocked something lose.

ahhh so it had some slack as to not rev the car to 6750 upon startup but enuf to screw with ur idle hehe

yea sometimes i get a bit complicated and never think of the easy stuff lol

glad ya got the idle fixed... you still gotta fix ur tps tho

try resetting the ecu first then see if the code comes back before you try to set it

heh ' complicated ' is prolly from long exposure to supras
took it out to lunch yesterday and screeched around some corners !!
think its going now like it used to go when i first got it. lately it'd been worrying me that it didn't seem quite as fast and compression + leakage tests were on my list for a few months before it finally happened. its cool, i'm told the horsepower is there in the head now and all i have to do is feed it and let it breath.

got a trip to dunedin planned soon, think ill take my corolla. supra ain't going far from home till she's done a few k's more than up the road to the dairy, prolly not till i've re-torqued the headstuds

So I bought this old Honda bike, an NSR250. Bit of a street racer, I guess. I'm told they're fast.

Delivering it home with a friend driving the Supra for the first time. I drop gears and make a scream from the twin pipes flowing down this pony's flanks and it takes off like it's tail's on fire.

I look back when the Honda gets to its tap-out and the Supra's only two lengths behind. No one I've let ride my bike has told me its slow, they've all loved the thing. That car is a good thing indeed.
