i have an 1991 with an automatic tranny(wish it was manual). right next to the shifter is a button that reads shift lock overide. what is it? i looked in my owners manual but it didnt tell me anything about it

no key in ignition, can't move shifter, press and hold button, now can move shifter. sorted?
