Head Erosion Behind #6
I have the head off of my 86.5 supra. While examining the head I found erosion in the surface just behind the #6 combustion chamber. At first I thought that it was a clogged water port, but on cleaning it appears to be metal that has been eroded. I though that it was a water port because it's above a water port in the block and the head gasket has a water port in the same location.
Is this a feature of the supra block and head that they do not have matching water ports behind #6? Is the head supposed to have a water port in that location? Has anyone else experienced this and found a good solution? Thanks. |

if there is pitting in the block i would see how deep it is and if your machine shop can machine it down to get them out
what power are you going for? that's a big thing in deciding what you will do with this block and yep it's common to have mismatched cooling jackets on block & hg some random toyota thing lol

The erosion is in the head. A pocket about 1/8" deep 1/4" wide and just less than an inch long. A collegue recommended JB Weld to fill the pocket then file to match the head surface. Has anyone had expeience with an approach like this? If so, did it work?
