Thanks for trying, but I called a Toyota dealer and it seems I activated the security system and had to reset it. I didn't think my car would just die like that and it bothered me all morning, then I remember I had trouble with this stupid security system before (got locked out of my radio) and I got a really nice service rep on the phone to help me. Whew! Got my baby back.James in NJ |

Make sure you unlock the door before you start the car. Every once in a while the security on my car will do the same. The other option is the neutral safety switch. Just some ideas.

It sure sounds like the factory anti theft deterant system. my 86.5 does the same annoying thing a few times a year. I have found the solution!
1. exit the car. 2. lock the doors using the inside lock, not the key. 3. close the door; however pull up on the outside door handle while you are closing it. 4. look thru the window to see if the blinky light on the dash starts blinking. --- if it does, then simply unlock the door using your key and start your car. --- if it does not, try all steps again, or try on the passenger door. (remember, its takes a bit of time for the blinky light to start blinking.) |
