Supra Turbo Wastin Away, Help me get my hand on it
Every day on my way to work I pass an 88 Supra Turbo (I think, it doesn't have the split grille like my 89, or maybe its a 90) that's not in bad shape cosmeticaly. I've stopped and checked it out a couple of times and the interior is not excellent but good. It's a five speed. Well, lately I've noticed parking tickets piling up on the thing. It got a flat, and now the spare has been on permanently. Then the other day, I see an orange sticker on the window from the Police sayin if this car is not moved soon it will be towed! I am going to leave my number on the car today and ask the guy for a price, but if I don't hear from him I'll take down the plate numbers. Is there any way to track someone down like that if you are a civilian? Also, if it's towed, what happens. Can I go bid on it or something? I know it can be moved, because I've seen it on both sides of the street, but lately the guy doesn't seem to care anymore. I have an 89 N/A and would love to get my hands on this car, even just to canabalize, depending on the shape its in. Any ideas out there in Supra Land. I am practically losing my mind thinking this thing is on its way to the scrap heap. Help!

Go knock on doors. I'm sure the nieghbors are tired of looking at it and would be glad to point you in the right direction. If its impounded the owner will have a month +/- to bail it out or it goes to auction, I think... Find out if it runs first though. It could be all messed up... Good Luck

RE: Wasted Turbo
Yeah, its gone now. Haven't seen it for 2 days. Can a third party call the police to inquire about a towed car? I was thinking of finding out who has the towing contract in our town and driving down to their lot (this aint a big city I'm talkin about). I feel like I saw a lost puppy and didn't do anything. A friggin car, I'm such an emotional a**hole. So I'll call the cops, see what they say, this way I can clear my consience. I just hope she finds a good home, sob, sob.

P.S. to KWNATE
That is a really beautiful color on your car, is it factory? Did Supra's come off the line like that or did you have it done somewhere? Anyway, very pretty car.

91+ Blue Metallic. Not too many of them. It's been repainted (not very well) in the factory color. I'll have it redone down the road. Thats for the compliment.

its been a few yrs since i was a tow truck driver, but in Wa, back in 95" we would have to hold on to a impound car for 30 days before they can legally auction it, But its worth a shot trying to work a deal with the owner before the fees get to large..
id suggest going to the tow company and see if they will give you the registered owners name. Then you can find out more about the car from them..see if its even worth it.. |
