Changing stock air intake.
Would changing the stock intake air filter and tube make the "check engine" light turn on? If so, what can I do about it?
|
as long as you leave all vacum lines and sensors where they are it should be ok
|
it shouldn't do... i would say you've bumped something or forgot to plug something in
have you done a diagnostic? |

Wait!
Wait, people, I haven't done it yet! :-)
But I'm planning to do so next week (or later if I have to order it from the states, as I'm doing with everything else... damn!). But I noticed there is some sort of flowmeter or sensor in the tube that goes from air filter to engine (or manifold or whatever).. so, eliminating this TUBE would mean eliminating the sensor, wouldn't it? Or can I install it without eliminating it? Wouldn't it then read more air flowing and also turn the check engine? I'm such a noob, sorry about this guys/girls. |
heeh don't play around with it.. just go pull ur codes and let us know what ya got ;)

if the cold air intake tube hooks up to the factory mass air flow sensor....youll be fine. lol. if you remove the mass air flow sensor the car will not even run. or start. it might burp a few times. aftermarket kits for the car hook up to the stock MAF, and the filter hooks up to the front of that. goodluck

oh i c what u mean
nope you should be fine just get new intake (i.e cooleze)... unplug afm and put afm into new intake and plug it back in and you'll be fine you can't run without it |
