That's good to know. How do I "burp" the cooling system, it sounds like there is air in it.

it will be in "vacuum" at idle... usually about -20ish on a good engine

most of your turbo cars have vacuum leaks then
![]() usually -18 to -22 is normal if it shows -10 then you have vacuum leaks (more than likely straight of the intake manifold) or (happened to me) bhg... altho that's not common i don't think mine was surging hardcore like it had a major boost leak here's some good info from www.cygnusx1.net http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/techtip/vacuum.html

well on the gauge on the one im getting goes from -4 to +8psi
and at idal it always says -4. is this right or is there somthing rong like a leak or somthing? Last edited by duster117; 01-10-2006 at 01:25 PM. |

yea, mine has the same boost reading and I am wondering the same thing.

here something to think about. a turbo runs off of exhaust and when the car is started, no exhaust yet but the engine needs air to run. so the engine will suck in air creating a vaccum, thus reading neg boost. once its running and pushing out exhaust making the turbo spin, the gauge will read positive pressure
