Is there a Next Gen Supra in the works?
I need to get a sports car, should I just get an STI now or should I continue to wait for the "next Supra"
Can anyone confirm that there is a next supra, dates and price would be good too |

I read an article in one of the several auto mags that we get down at the shop. Apparently they have a 'sports car' in the works. An aluminum block V8, with something like 400hp-600hp twin turbo. The talk is that it would come out sometime in 2007-08, and likely be badged under Lexus. AND they will only be making a limited number of them at first.
No name has been selected, but NAMES, and not numbers and letters, is what it will be called. (according to the article) They have been testing it, and there was a photo. It looked a bit too rounded for me, but I am an 'edgie' body lover. In fact, I like my MK3 front end over the Mk4 design. I would like to get rid of the big back glass hatch, like I saw a photo of a yellow one on that site with all the supras.

I love STi's, I have a '94 Supra now. Been in both, tested both and I would still go for the supra (actually I did went for the supra). For one thing there aren't that many Supras out there (so its very exclusive), ona can see STi's all over the place. Also it depends what you looking for, drag, circuit racing, etc etc etc.
The other thing is that as far as I remember Supras were made until 2002 in Japan (1998 USA And Canada). Also, even there are rumors about a new Supra there is no way of knowing for sure, and if its coming soon, I'm sure the price tag will be tremendous.....so if you want to wait, i would start saving money now, and I mean saving (unless you fortunate enough to have a few xtra thousand lying around). So, my suggestion buy a MKIV, if that don't work for you, then go for the STI ands if you have the patience to wait and see if they actually come out with a new supra, then wait. Anyways, those are my two cents |

Also, in August of 1998, there was a black supra on the showroom floor of the local dealer. Factory window sticker was $43500. That's almost 8 years ago. What would a new one today cost???
They were (are) awesome cars, but they priced themselves out of the market. Toyota is a household name, but not for supras, but for Camry & trucks.
