knock sensor??
how important is the knock sensor mine was just dangling in the engine where does it attach to??? (i had to install a new egine harness)

knock sensors are very important for the engine (if you would like me to explain actual operation let me know)
if you have a 7mgte there are two knock sensors, one at the rear just sorta above the starter and one at the front between #2 & #3 cyl 7mge there is only one and that is in the center between #3 & #4 i believe wait till the engine is cold and just have a feel around under your intake manifold on the block till you find a plug poking out of the block with nothing on it

i would appreciate it very much if u could help me out, i own a 84 celica supra took it to toyota and the dealer told me i needed a new engine harness cuase mine was pretty much shot so i got one installeded myself but the knock sensor was not conected to anything it was just dangling there, all i have left to install is the knock sensor and the engine temp sensor im doin the work myself cuase the idiot that i married does not want to help any info i would appreciate

being that the 5m uses the same block the same rules apply to the 5m as with the 7mge
i just had a quick look at the mk2 outside... and i would imagine the knock sensor is somewhere up the block abit from the engine mount... so get ur hand in under the manifold and above the engine mount and feel around till you find the knock sensor... its a round one... as you've probly guessed from your dangling plug hehe
