download the free repair manual, it also has a step by step how to i think?
IM too lazy, but here is a write up that dylan wiggins did, its pretty funny too. http://photos.dylanwiggins.com/thumbnails.php?album=84 as for what headgasket to use, depends on what boost and mods you may have in mind? yup nuts and bolts , |

Riiiigggghhhhht.... well, that doesn't look too hard! I am going to try it, but I will probably regret it about half way through it. Oh well! Wish me luck guys. I am going to attempt the famed bhg replacment as soon as I get a chance...and the guts! Still need to know what size hg though. I am thinking that this engine won't see anything above stick horse power. I am saving all the goodies for the engine on the stand. So for a stock replacment, what size?
Thanks alot Joel Williams, couldn't have asked for anything better.

i replaced mine with a new toyota gasket, correct me if im wrong here people, but the thickness of the gasket depends on how much material you remove from the block and head surfaces to bring it back to stock compresssion,, and or,,, you can get a thicker gasket to lower the compression ratios for higher boost potential.
some metal head gaskets are good, but require specific surfaces for proper sealing against the head and block... also if i were you, id also call around and find a good machine shop to look at your head when you get it off to check for warpage. valve adjustment and or lapping the valves even valve guide seals ecetra.. if needed or whatever.. PS;ask if them have adjusted bucket shim valves before, if they say what? keep calling around.. http://www.supra.co.nz/87tsrm/ http://groundsky.co.nz/techinfo/TSRM/ http://groundsky.co.nz/techinfo/TSRM/03_EM.pdf Last edited by joel williams; 01-17-2006 at 07:33 AM. |

Take pics & label!
There is lots of info on this out there, but I will tell you what you may not find.
If you have a digital camera, take lots of pics with hoses labeled with tape. Label things that you may lose track of. That is how I do things, and it will actually save you time, not cost you time in the long run! Others don't do this, but some may need the extra help/guidance because they may not have had their eyes on 7M's for extended periods of time, unlike other 7M gear heads
