Heh.
I love what one can do with that 2JZ, even with stock internals and just bolt on parts.... just love it, and wish one day I can also DO it besides loving it. =P

i think they were unaware of the potential of the 2jz. so i guess ya they did under rate it. but if you blame them for anything it should be for overpricing them. thats why they stopped importing them.

well yea if they were the same price as a nice little flat four subaru, they'd be all over the countryside here. glad they cost so much it keeps them uncommon

So I bought this old Honda bike, an NSR250. Bit of a street racer, I guess. I'm told they're fast. Delivering it home with a friend driving the Supra for the first time. I drop gears and make a scream from the twin pipes flowing down this pony's flanks and it takes off like it's tail's on fire. I look back when the Honda gets to its tap-out and the Supra's only two lengths behind. No one I've let ride my bike has told me its slow, they've all loved the thing. That car is a good thing indeed. |

The Supra's Horsepower was underated just like many cars in and from Japan (ie. Nissan Skyline, Lancer Evo, Subaru WRX, Honda NSX) because of an agreed apon "limit" on horsepower of only 276HP...that's why so many of the Japanese supercars are listed as 276ish horsepower even though in practice they make more and sometimes A LOT more power. Plus the serious potential of the JZ engines comes not from the factory but the aftermarket and the upgradability of those engines...not to mention that Toyota overbuilt the engines to be able to support WAY more than 276HP.
