You can find out exactly what's wrong with the blown engine by doing a leakdown test on it. If you ask a shop experienced with the Mkiv Supra Turbo to do this swap for you, they'll probably charge you somewhere between 30 and 40 hours of labor. (Probably about $3K in labor) ...and yes, it really does take that many hours of hard work to do this swap properly. The only difference between the two shortblocks is very minor: the size & thread pattern of the hole in the block for the oil pressure sensor (i.e. the '98 oil pressure sensor is different), and Toyota sells an adapter to address this problem. Post back if/when you need some advice |
Hey thanx for the info but apparently they have seized the engine so what do I do now just buy a new engine?

You could also go with a used jap-spec 2jz-gte longblock (usually available from an Aristo, not a Supra) and swap all of the necessary parts. Honestly it sounds very suspicious. I've never heard of a 2jz-gte 'sieze' - you'd have to (for example) run it without any oil for a long time for something like that to happen. It's difficult to envision any normal operating condition that would cause it to completely sieze except maybe a broken connecting rod? FYI: For a connecting rod to break, they'd have had to be running a huge shot of nos, and about 1000hp. Given how unusual all of this is, do you think they're telling you it's siezed so you can't do a leakdown? Oh, and note you can still do a leakdown on a siezed engine by removing the cams. :) |
Yea thats what happen Im buying this car from readytofix.com if you want to take a look at it? Its the 94 turbo with blown engine
