I'm not really following you.
'L' position is 1st gear only. '2' position starts off in 1st, then upshifts to 2nd, and holds. 'D' starts in 1st, goes to 2nd, then to 3rd, and holds 3rd with O D button off. 'D' with O D botton on will allow it into overdrive after 40mph. The OD is actually another gear, not locking 3rd to anything. The 'lockup' torque converter locks up with light throttle position in OD. If you are cruising along in OD, if you step on the gas, like to speed up to 65mph, the torque converter unlocks, and the RPMs go up about 400 more. In other words, the lockup = about 400 rpm. The cable on the throttle has adjustment proceedures in the TSRM. It is a pressure adjustment, and tells the trans to up/down shift depending on the throttle opening.
