Dont worry, im a kid too. But If you want the end-all for cold air intakes, It doesnt matter what metal/material its made out of, As long as your getting ambient(outside) air and not hot air from the radiator/exhaust/motor thats burning lots of gasoline and air to make power. And that heatsheild on the subaru does a good job of that, It stops the flow of hot air, even if it radiates a little heat in. And on a supra the filter is already in a good spot, I would just say get rid of the wrinkly rubber hose and that muffler thing.

im not bragging or trying to irritate pple,

but this is what i did with my intake, on the right side of the heatshield, its way to close to the radiator, if i use any kind of metal, its jus gonna conduct the heat coming from the rad. and would jus heat up the whole heatshield

My only question is why the hell is your filter so close to the radiator?

GET IT AWAY FROM HEAT PRODUCING SOURCES.

Move it to the far RH corner of the bay, then the heatshield will actually do something.

im kinda thinkin it workd for your subaru beacuse your engine bay doesnt looks as cramped as the supra, maybe thats why the hot air from the engine or other parts has enough time to cool down before it hits your shield,

not dissing but that a good job that works for your subaru, functional and looks good

if i do the same thing with the supra, one of the ends is gonna hit the radiator thats why i was hesitant to use any metal, cuz i was sure that it was jus gonna conduct heat, and dont for get that theres only a few inches of clearance from the intake and the engine, and the intake from the radiator

thats why next thing im gonna do is to move the filter jus behind to fog lights
there's a solution for you which hav been said for idk about a week already

I'll just have to show you. It's not that difficult, and I did read that post... read it a few times, because, honestly I don't see how there isn't enough room.

Looks like I'm gonna have to demonstrate on my N/A parts car.
I'll take the airbox off and take some pictures for you.
I just don't understand why you think it's so cramped...

2nr, Its not the radiated heat that matters, its where the air flow is coming from. That shield has such a small surface area its not gona do crap to heat up the air any more than it would be anyway from where its gona suck it up from. And i do agree with supra90, it could move over a bit, But the argument over what material it is is pointless. And another thing, If you knew how conductivity really worked, The only thing the material is going to affect is how long it takes to heat up. Plastic/composite will get just as hot as the metal would, itll just take 5 or 6 mins longer. Its not like your trying to keep an ice cube from a 10000 degree heat source, You just want to stop the flow of air from the hot side, And make it come from the cool side. So the one you have is perfectly fine, so if you like it, keep it :)

thats why i splitted ,my insulators to two pieces, an inside part and an outside so that way the heat from the outside insulator doesnt touch the inside,
so the insde can do its best to keep the heat out
