cambelts
Hi
new to this site, just looking for a bit of advice I have a Supra turbo 1989 auto, mileage 73,000 genuine. On checking the handbook it looks like the cam belt doesn't need changing if under normal driving conditions. It was last changed at 37,000 miles, 9 year ago. Question is, does it need changing now and if it did break will it knacker the valves? Thanks in advance |

no it will not knacker the valves .its odd to have the timing belt changed at 37,000. it would be worth it to at least remove the cover to check the condition of the belt

Thanks for the info. The reason the belt was changed at 37K was that I had just brought the car and that was the first change since 1989 ie 8 yrs.
Some geezer in the local garage said it should be changed at 60K miles or 5yrs. |
