Things I've researched and done
Go to FAQs section and read the "exhaust system researched' thread.
Then, a 'cone' air filter kit from an ebay store for your model. I paid $25 shipped 3 years ago. (You need the 3" adaptor in the kit to mount a filter to the AFM). Go to the SOGI site and look up mods to the AFM. It lightens the spring tension on the trap door. Quicker throttle responce. Get a 5/16" hose barb splice (I used a threaded brass piipe), or any piece of tubing that will fit tight, and by-pass the coolant hoses to the throttlebody. This allows the air entering the manifold to be cooler. Cooler air = HPs. Make sure all vacuum lines are good. Make sure Dist. cap and rotor and wires are good. Set timing to 15*. |
Cheapest and easiest would be to add cone air filter replace cat with str8 pipe and replace muffler with a cherry bomb thats about $40.00 roughly and you can "feel the difference"
cap, roter button, coil and MSD 8.5mm wires about $65-75 Denso Iridium or Bosch Plat4 plugs, Bosch Oxygen Sensor $35-$75 Lucas off-road only fuel additive $7.00 a fill up |
I used a piece of rubber hose and the MAF is right on the throttle body, and I have a stock kind of k&n filter, and a modified airbox. I had to take the gas tank canister thing out to put it there. It makes a noticeable difference in sound and power.
