*_*_*_*HavInG ProBLem WitH 87 SUprA (NO SPARK)
I am having a problem with my 87 supra, its not getting any spark past the distributor, its fine from the coil and down the coil wire but once it hits the distributor and i test a spark wire theres nothing, its a brand new distributor, dealer installed, and it still doesnt work. There are other wires the are sumhow hooked into the distributor (or so it looks) and i was thinkin maybe its a sensor or something electrical. i thought id try posting on here to see if i could get any help that way. more info avaliable on request, thanx

You said 'dealer' installed. Tell us more about that. Did it run after it was installed??
Yes. Then perhaps the rotor is loose. Remove the cap and check it and the rotor. Mine came loose once when one of the screws fell out, after it was replaced 3 months earlier. Started misfiring and running crappy. I put a drop or locktite on each of the screws when I put a 'new' rotor on. I 'strongly' recommend locktite on these 2 screws.

ok i have spark now, but ...
i really dont know much about it, i just know i got it from my cousin who said it had a new distributor installed, neway im getting spark now, im not sure what happened. but if i turn it over and spray some ether in there it hits but it won't start, id think even if there was no fuel it should still run off the ether, but it doesnt. it has 1/4 tank of fresh gas in it so i suppose it might have a bad fuel pump but idk. even if id think it would still run off the ether, if anyone has had any similar problems id appreciate the help, im gonna have a buddy come down w/ his computer and see what that says and ill update afterwards.
btw i was think maybe it could be some kinda sensor??? Dave |

New Question
I have an 89 N/A and right after the air filter there are some wires that connect with like a harness bracket. It just clicks in. I have noticed that if this is not connected, the car cranks but will not turn over. As soon as you connect the wires, VAROOM, it starts right up. What and where do these wires go and what do they do?

dave sounds like you need to check the timing
the wiring just after the air filter is where the car measures air in the air flow meter

Afm
O.K., so that's the AFM I hear everyone mentioning. If you do a mod with a cold air intake, is it difficult to get this thing connected and running properly?
