Unhappy I NEED HELP! My car is overheating!!!! PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!

My car overheats when I'm driving over 45 MPH. I think it's the head gasket (it does leak out tiny itsy bits of oil) but it could be the thermostat or the radiator. Please help me out. I have no idea what to do?

Default I Need Help!

What kind of car?
If it's an MKIII, unfortunately it probably is the head gasket. However, check out the reply from suprra_girl first. Any leak in the system can cause overheating and you may have more that one problem.
If you do replace the head gasket BE SURE to check the head for cracks and trueness before you put it back together.
I also STRONGLY recomend you replace the gasket on your EGR cooler WHILE THE HEAD IS OFF. This gasket probably now leaks due in part to your overheating and will cause you more problems down the road and is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to change with the head on. (I know this from experience)

Good luck and welcome to the 'head gasket' club.

If it is not loosing coolant as you did not say? and the fact that you say it only over heats at 45mph suggests a bad/sticky thermostat. Get a good one from the dealer, they are cheap. imo

Red face

Thanks you guys! It was actually the thermostat. My car is a MKIII (Sorry about not mentioning that) The thermostat is really cheap and it was really easy to fix. I love my supra! It delivers the power when I want it and it kicks BUTT!!! Again, thanks to all who replied!!!!
