Hey, question on 87 Supra
Just wondering
When the cams are lined to the match marks is the rotor to be pointing on the number 1 plug wire? (In the firing order) Crank is Top dead center and cams are at match marks Is it supposed to be pointing at number 1? Or Do you just line it up Get back to me please Thanks, Ken |

If the cam matchmarks are lined up with the marks on the inner timing belt case, then the cams are at TDC position and (non turbo) the distributor rotor should be pointed to the number one spark plug terminal. If it is not, then someone installed it incorrectly.
Are you doing a timing belt? Because if it is off and you are lining up the cams you still have to find true TDC of the number one piston, which you should have done long before you took the timing belt off. So it sounds like you got it. Last edited by IHateHacks; 06-16-2006 at 12:59 PM. |
