Default Question about Slick 50 engine protection!

1) Anyone know if Slick 50 is good to use on a Turbo Supra???
2) And those stop leak stuff???
3) Would it affect the performace or cooling of the turbo???
4) My engine have a minor leak...any suggestion of what I should do???

I have reaad that Slick 50 contains teflon, and that Dupont, who invented teflon, says not to use it in combustion engines.

STP works good, and is safe.

Fix all the leaks you can.

I read the box and it says it is good to use in any engine.
Slick 50 goes in the engine with the engine oil to help protect
the enigne wear and tear....helps smooth out between the joint.
But I wasn't sure if it is usable on turbo engines.

what nickle is saying is that while the makers of Slick50 say its good in your engine and can do all this stuff, Dupont, the ones who developed teflon, says that it wasnt designed for that purpose and MAY serve no useful purpose.

I have used some oil additives in the past on some of my harder working vehicles and while I dont have any proof they worked, they made me feel better about the engine. The most recent use was while on a cross country trip in my Nissan Hardbody p'up I was towing a seriously overloaded trailer with the little 2.4L I4 in it. at one point I swear I heard rods starting to knock. I pulled into the next town and added a bottle of Prolong. "Old Blue" ran like a champ the remaining 1000miles, never overheated, and to this day is still being driven daily by my ex-wife.

I read a rather lengthy piece on additives (I think someone on this forum pointed me to it) and it was rather comprehensive and said not to put anything in your engine except engine oil. The additives are more apt to hurt your car than help it. It sounds like sound advice. Those additives remind me of snake oil or patent medicines.

While that is sound advice for a good running engine with no clearence issues or tired components, I think that when you reach the point in the life of your engine where it is tired and near end-life, that these additives can extend the time until your ready to do a rebuild.

I limped a tired old 20R Celica motor that burned 2 qts of oil per tank of fuel for an additional 2 years and at least 20k miles befoe I sold it. It was still running when I sold it. I dont know if the additives made a difference or not, but it gave me little more confidence at least.
