clear. Thanks for the comments so far thought! Just need to know if this is good with turbo engines. I know it works great with N/A engine cause one of my friend used it on his 95 Camery and I can hear and feel the difference in performce in the engine (nice and smooth) but not sure if this stuff is good for use in turbo engines. http://slick50.com/index.htm Slick 50® Advanced Formula Engine Treatment Slick 50® Advanced Formula Engine Treatment combines Slick 50® Protection Chemistry with a fully formulated 10W-30 motor oil to provide protection against friction and heat. I already know what I believe to be 'true' in the engine world, but you must decide for yourself. You have shown great intelligence and for-thought by asking questions, and not just doing stuff first.
I have seen far too many people do things to their car, (with good intentions of course), but ruin it. I suggest you do further research on the net for more input. (#5 needs input, Stephanie, be fore a Short Circuit) I use STP because it leaves a VERY Slippery coating on the metal surfaces. The most wear caused in an engine is at a cold start. Hot motor oil drains back into the oil pan after sitting for a couple hours. It takes a few moments for the oil to be spread throughout the motor after starting. On motors with more than 100k miles, leaks and seepage are normal. Parts clearances widen. So I use 20w-50 oil to help slow leaks, and fill the clearances.

You have given me great advice in the past so I put a lot of stock in what you say. This STP you mention, it is also an oil additive? And about using 20w 50 weight oil, it sounds like a good idea for an older engine but that works for you in the Mojave desert, what about us folks here in the North where it can get cold. Would 20w 50 be a year round oil?
Thanks, Scruff |

And in colder climates like my winter, it can and does freeze overnight, I run 10w-40.

So then you must know where the water slides are up on the Kern? used to be my favorite place to go. I owned a 4x4 then and know all the "goat trails" up there around kennedy meadows.
anyway, I now return this thread to your regularly scheduled program

to add a little bit, The thing i dont like about oil additives, is there is absolutley no way to prove or disprove that they work or not. Unless you take like 50 brand new cars, additive of choice in 25 of em, and drive them 200k miles on a dyno, same temp, same climate, all that fun stuff. And then youd have to take each engine apart and micrometer everything inside. If i had a few million id set it up.
