Oil pan gasket? Could be!
|
lol to tell you the truth i didn't know an oil pan had a gasket how much would it be to replace it? all together
|
Thats right below your oil filter, Im gonna bet your pan gasket is fine and what your seeing is just the build up before it drips off the edge. Make sure your filter is screwed on tight. Take a rag and wipe the area dry, then run the car and look for the leak.
I thought your car was siezed? |
no i later found out that its jsut a starter, i got some people to listen to it and they have friends that had the same problem and they say its the starter, which is wut everyone i know is sayin, and the car wont start.sometimes it almost cranks over but it doesnt start up. i found the starter but cant unbolt it from the hood area and i need to wait for my brother to get home to help me jack it up to see if i can get it from the underneath but im kinda scared cuz i always have feelin its gonna roll off the jacks and slam on me.

If you are going to replace the oil pan gasket make sure you use Seal packing part # 08826-00080 from any toyota dealer. The gasket itself is only 7 bucks at any cheapass autostore, but take a look under the car.... you see that big suspension crossmember? Yea that has to come down along with the steering rack, whole front suspension etc. It is defineitly do-able but it will be hard to say the least.

My bet is that its the oil filter. The oil pan has a FIPG (form in place gasket). Go outside right now and check the oil level. I'm sure it's low. The engine will not tolerate low oil levels. So do the steps as follows.
1. Drain oil 2. Take off old oil filter (make sure the gasket is still on it) 3. Clean oil filter housing 4. Put drain plug back in 5. Put oil on new oil filter gasket 6. Put 5 quarts of oil in it 7. Start car for 30 seconds then turn off 8. Check oil level You should be good to go. If it still happens, take it to an oil changing shop and they'll look to see where it's leaking from for no charge. At least the place I work at will. If you didnt clean the oil filter housing, it would have a bad seal. All it needs is a little dirt to make a bad seal. |
thx for the help guys but today im getting a new starter and a brake pads installed hopefuly, if my car turns on, i'll change the oil and do wut u said dcrusupra, thx for the help everyone.
P.S. in the first picture, that's the O2 sensor right? how do i remove it? just unscrew it or yank it out? |
ye i reckon oil filter too... i see a little bit of oil just to the right of it there so i think it's dropping down from there
02 sensor has 2 12mm nuts, you need to undo them to get the 02 off :) |
And if you need the PN to an oil filter, its MO241. Its a mobil oil filter.
