The 10th digit of the VIN is the year. The VIN is located on the right side of the block, next to the oil filter.
http://www.answers.com/topic/toyota-vin-codes It is possible to use the engine in any year MK3, but some of the sensors may need to be for the year of the body/wire harness.

Just A Question!!
Just a question here....wouldn't the "7M-GTE" kinda give it away?...or whatever number is on there? Unless the cam gear cover is gone.

yes well thank you cause i am new to the supra thing and i am wanting to do something really good with the motor. i know this might sound a little wierd but i am going to try to get the rest of a drive train put together with this motor and put it all in a 80's model toyota pick up truck. i am wanting to do something different and the items and time are here. so if i ever find a truck worthy of the project. i will start. but thanks. rusty
