engine swap

hey i was wondering if i would be able to swap my 7mge engine out of my 86 supra and put in a jdm 2jz-gte engine? is that possible?

Not without a lot of work. But yes, there are hundreds of them running around out there.

what kinda of work am i looking at???

this isnt sumthing you just plop right in...you have to do a lot of fabricating.
you need..

1 2jzgte obviously
2 harness both the 7m and the 2jzgte
3 u need a 89+ round mount cross members some 89s do have square mounts to beware of it
4 turbo headers or manifold for a single turbo (unless u plan of fu<king up the fire wall)
5 turbo ur choice
6 motor mounts the 2jz
7 ecu-either stand alone or 2jzgte
8 fuel pump either the tt fuel pump or a walbro 250lb
9 elec fans cause the 2jz does not use the sameones also helpsout on parasitic hp drop
10 hybrid clutch and fly set up (if using manual)
11 tranny (well depends either 1jz bellhousing for the r154 out auto tranny or a getrag-v160 which involves alot of work)
12 ic
13$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

well thanks for the input guys, would i be able to do up the 7mge with some power, i just want a car to be able to drift on dry pavement

tellfromchico,ca 11-16-2006 06:26 AM

id start with a 7mgte lsd diff if u like to drift , lucky me my stock 89 7mgte came with one. also why not keep it simple and go with 7mgte swap?

dom747 11-17-2006 12:40 AM

ya...well is it hard to swap it to a that?..

?

no matter what its hard labor but its a lot easier because it bolts right to the tranny and no fab is needed
