It's always a hard choice when trying to make your daily driver a race car. Comford/good music/sound vs. light weight and faster. If you get big heavy subs try and make them easily removable for those track days or street races. (I always recommend track over street for TRUE racing...safer too but I'm old)I have the power original Supra seats and I like them. May be heavier than a true race seat but can really snug up for racing or get cushy for daily casual drives. I don't see myself removing and weighing for you...sorry...no time.
If you ever get to the track you can always remove the subs and spare tire easily. If you really are serious take out the back seats and passenger seat. Be prepared for the lighter rear end...it will handle a little different. My vote: Go for the Supra power driver seat, intake and pipes, TEIN Flex coilovers and while you need to remove the back seat for the TEIN install, leave it out. Do some cool custom easily removable sub set-up in place of that back seat. (only really really small people can sit back there anyway). The TEIN Flex has an optional electronic damper adjustment you can work from inside the car so you can crank it stiffer or cushy. All it takes is money and time. |

thats what basically is the best option for me
im gonna take the backseat out like i did with my first supra use that space between the rear shocks insde the car to mount the subs and the amp, where the seats use to belong the tein flexes tho, they dont quite lower the car as much as i want ( a full 2" drop) but the adjustability is beautiful i still got to think about it tho i might jus go with a simple adjustable coilover system doesnt need to b from the cockpit cuz when it comes to my car, i got all the time in the world and i plan to only have one seat in the car since my girl got mad that i bought my car instead of the damn engagement ring that she wanted so she's out of the picture now lol

I run 17" wheels right now and TEIN flex will lower the car right on top of the tires if you want. I think the specs you read on them are wrong for the Supra. When I first put them on I adjusted them about 10 turns higher than the lowest setting and when I took the car off the jack it actually DID sit wheel well ON the rubber. Had to re-adjust to raise it up. Then when I got on track, diving into a 10 degree banked turn under heavy breaking it would rub on the top of the wheel wells so raised it up 4 more turns. Still got a brief rub.
I could go a little lower in back but I will probably go 18" and a little wider back there so I'll wait and see how that works. |

if im gonna buy rims, i think im jus gonna buy sum 17's
i really dont like lo-pro tires that much and the paintjob that i did with the stock sawblades wasnt that bad so i wont be getting rims for a while see, i would love to do the racing that ur involved in but there's jus nothing close to me and theyre expensive and drag racing is the most available but a track day wont be too bad i can go as fast as i can, and no cops lol and i know about the handling issues with lightnin the rear thats why i thought maybe the subs can balance the weight loss a little bit? but either ways, im a drifter when i can, so it does make it easier to swing the rear with the car being front-biased

TEIN makes a less expensive street coilover for our cars. I actually had a hard time finding much choice for coilovers to fit our cars. Good luck.
And remember...if you have NO FEAR...you're not going fast enough. |
