head
hey..lol...well iam currently doing my head gasket and i just measured my head and there was noo warping done to it, and the gasket that i got for it is a metal one, and ive read that you have to get your head and block shavin, but do you still have to do it if there is no warpage

I would say the reason most people advocate decking the block is to compensate for the increased height of the metal head gasket and maintain a good compression ratio.I could be wrong here ,but I don't see a standard gasket changing your compression enough to get worried about. 'Specialy since you didn't plan on pulling the block in the first place ,I don't think the gains outweigh the effort.

For a normal gasket you are correct, for a metal one you want it planed and lapped because any slight imperfection can cause a bad seal with a metal head gasket.
