gear shifting problem
hey guys, i have a 1988 toyota supra 3l manual, iv had it for 6 months and now have encounted a problem, the other day when driving i found it hard to change into 3rd gear and the same into 4th! i changed the clutch cylinder on the side of the gearbow (cant remember if its the master or slave) 5 months ago because of a leak. the car drives fine now, i pumped the chutch for a few minutes yesterday because i thourght it could of possibly been an airlock (as i top the fluid up every 6 or so weeks). Could that be the problem or is it likely to be something else?

If you top the fluid off every 6 weeks you definately have a leak. Thats your problem. The Toyota manual transmissions are renowned for their syncros basically you are not disengaging the clutch enough and the syncros are doing the rest.
The Master tells the slave what to do, think of it that way. So the master cylinder is on the firewall, the slave is on the transmission. |
