Gurrgling Coolant
When you first start a Supra MK III, should you here a gurgling sound in the dash (I assume heater), or is this a sign of problems? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Scruffboy |

Pretty common problem. It CAN be a BHG but more than likely you just need to burp your cooling system. Here's a link from Suprra Girl
http://www.toyota-supra.info/forums/...ead.php?t=3029 Also mrnickleye suggested once, and I can't remember where I just know it was him, to cut the dangley thing on your thermostat and bore the hole out to 4mm to help reduce this problem in the future.

For anyone who needs to bleed air out of their coolant system, the easiest thing to do is to get a coolant fill funnel kit. It is pretty inexpensive, and you don't have to go through the same process that Suprra girl went through. This is a one shot deal. Anyone want to know how to do it, shoot me a pm. I'll be happy to explain.

Wait a minute
At the SupraGirl site I read this quote "***note... water WILL pass thru heater core when thermostat is closed, (on a cold engine)****". So is what's happening normal on cold start? After the engine warms up all sounds disapear. This has just started to happen as the temperature here dipped a little in the mornings (I get up real early).

the gurgle noise is caused by a small lack of water . either you leaked water or pushed it out at some point just enough for a small amount or air to be in the system when the engine heats up the coolant system expands and the air pocket is gone and so is the gurgle . you need to keep a very close eye on where the water is going . the coolant system should not use lose or use water ever.
check the radiator level and the reserve water bottle level every morning . if you keep adding a little water here and there you need to dig for a leak, if there is not a leak you are on your way to a BHG . i've had 3 supras and dealt with 4 bhg's . you better hope the gurgle is a one time oops the system was low thing . a supra will fool you into thinking it's not a BHG

Hey DDMCSE
Now ya have me scared. I also recently had a new water pump installed. Could this have caused air to get in the system?
