Default 7M-GE ..... Convert

Hello, I have a 1990 Toyota Supra (Non-Turbo) Automatic...

I was wondering what I all needed in order to Turbo my vehicle...

I know I would need a new Exhaust Manifold...the piping..turbo , intercooler, ECU...but what do I need to do specifically? Please let me know..I am new to this

Thanks,
Ken

Ok, first are you going to turbo your existing N/A motor or get another 7MGTE?

If it's your existing motor, there's two ways to do it. I don't know all the specifics but basically you can get the I/C/turbo/exhaust manifold off a turbo along with a MAFT system I believe (lemme know if I'm wrong about the MAFT).

The other BETTER way is same as above but get the ECU off the turbo as well, might need wiring harness too but not sure. I'll see if I can find more info on some of the other websites I go to, I'm sure someone has a writeup.

If you're doing a whole engine swap, here's a good link

I am thinking about just turbo'ing my engine...

I went to that website, where does that guy live at?

I might be interested, althought mine is an Automatic, does he do a manual swap too?

If not, that is fine, Automatic is cool with me

Anyways,
Let me know about that guy, thank you.

thats an old site so u might not be able to get a hold of him. putting a turbo on the na engine is hard because you have drill an extra oil line for the turbo and a few more parts. and another problem is the cylinders on the na are bigger which could turn into a proble. you are better off just changing engines.(changing engines is easier too)

You will definitely need the engine wiring harness. But then you'll need a GTE head for the cam position sensor and the coil packs that go with it and because a GE engine has higher compression which is not what you want for turbocharging. Then you'll need a GTE upper intake chamber to fit the intercooling piping, throttle linkage, fuel rail, cold start injector, ISC valve and throttle body with all the sensors like ISC, TPS. Don't know what you'd do about the extra knock sensor you need for the GTE harness, GE's only have one. Oh did I mention you will need to tap and drill an oil return and feed line for the turbo? The return can go into the oil pan (not optimal) but the feed, good luck with that. You'll need a GTE oil filter housing for the feed for the oil cooler. Oh and you'll have to drill another hole in the oil pan for the oil cooler return line. You'll also need a GTE water outlet housing for the coolant feed and return lines for the turbo and all the sensors that go with it. Theres probably more I just can't remember right now.

Or you could be smart and just buy a whole GTE!!!

So if I buy a GTE engine...and get an ECU as well...I can just drop it in and hook back up and it will run?
