Cruise Control, Help Please!

My 89 NA, Auto, has for severaly years, had an intermittent problem with the cruise control. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem and would offer any advice to correct it.

Here's the short version: When the outside temp is below 32 deg. F all the functions of the cruise works perfectly. When the temp is between 32 and 50, it will come on initially but, if you have to reset it, it won't resume or cancel or accel or coast. If it's over 50. well forget it totally, it won't even come on at all. I store it most of the winter, so I hardly get to use the cruise at all. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
