the weight of rims?
I've been looking for a new set of rims for some time now, and I'm sure most of you know its not an easy discision to make. Since I don't know much about rims I naturally decided to snoop around on the web and found alot of hoo har about unspring mass. While knowing the benefits of unspring mass is all well and good, what I cannot find for the life of me are the actual weight of rims.
Just how much do stock supra rims weigh? And how heavy are "lightweight" rims? While I realize at the end of the day rims are mostly for the show I cannot in good conscious change something on my car that will decrease its performance. If someone could shed some light on this I would be grateful. |
Stock wheels weigh in the 23 lb range for the sawblades, not sure on the 5 spoke MKIII wheels on the 91-92? (not sure on the 91, but know 92 have em). Most aftermarket cheap wheels weigh in around 20 lbs. Some are heavier, some are lighter. I've seen some that weigh 14 lbs, but they were a bit pricey.

Here are the MK3 wheel specs.
Stock wheel sizes: 91+ 5spokes: 16x7, +44mm - 16lb/ea sawblades: 16x7, +37mm - 23lb/ea Sawblades are heavy. Ive seen 17" rims weigh as low as 8lb each, but they were pretty pricey. |
Excellent! Thanks for the info guys now I have some figures to start with.:)
