Please Help!!
Hello, I have a manual 1987 supra turbo that keeps choking. It'll start up
with no problems and idles fine, but when I put it in any gear and drive past 2,500 RPMS it will choke. I can never go past 2,500 rpms. Can anyone tell me whats is wrong with my car? thank you |
Check the FAQs section for how to diagnose codes.
One thing that can cause the problem you say is....a plugged exhaust. |
Thats what I had thought but I've already checked the exhaust and that wasnt the problem.

Does it sputter when you go past 2500
Can only depress the pedal at a certain point b4 it chokes and dies? Can the car still move until you past a certain throttle point? If you answered yes to all the questions You might have the same problem that I had There was a wire on the afm which got cut So my suggestion is check all of your wires and check the afm plug if it properly secured Let us know what happens |
Are you getting a CEL? (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT)
try getting another ecu if possible and see if it works |

chokeing
when my auto did that it was the TPS so unplug it and go from there if it still does it than its not it.

I had that same problem after buying my JDM. My turbo was locked up and I didnt even notice before putting in the engine. It wouldnt budge at all, so I wasnt getting enough air for the engine to run at 2500 rpms.

does it feel like when you put it in gear and try to go you take off, hit 2500, then dies down and it kinda feels like a rev limiter? b/c that was how mine was with the TPS. post reply please
