Buying tips for a early '90's Twin Turbo
Hi,
I'm new to the board here but am an avid Supra owner and fan since I first drove one which was a 1985 GTS model. In 1998 I purchased my own Toyota Supra which was a 1987 Supra Non Turbo with the sport roof and the 3.0L 7MGE engine. I am now on my third and final engine as this one has been rebuilt from the head up and I also changed out the lower bearings as well. The car aside from HG issues has been a faithful friend for many years now but the lust for more power in my MKIII Supra has finally bitten me. I am now currently considering purchasing a 1991 Supra with the 2.5L Twin Turbo that has been imported from Japan and now resides on the other side of my country awaiting me to come and purchase it. My question is I know the MKIII engines with the North American 3.0L engines had horrible head gasket problems and I was wondering if anyone here knows if this is also a problem with the 2.5L engines as well? Also if there are any other known problem areas on the 2.5L Twin Turbo engine so I know what I am looking out for. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ed |
