1991 Non-Turbo Supra - Power Antennae Replacement Options
My ebay purchased 1991 Supra had a broken power antennae.
When the radio is powered on, there is a lot of noise from a motor as if it were attempting to raise the rod, but nothing happens. The radio still plays but the awful straining noise of the motor assembly sounds terrible. I've seen internet offerings for replacement power antennaes but don't know if they will work. Anyone with experience with a good source for a replacement power antennae? Also, I've seen some cars with a stationary rubberized antennae. It was shorter and could withstand bending in the wind. Where do you get such antennaes? Would this be a better option since you don't have to connect power to a motor to drive the shaft up and down? The whole concept of a deploying and retracting an antennae just to play the radio seems like a total waste of brain power and design effort, but I'm open to experienced advice. Thanks, Mitchell |

Attenae needed
I know the black non-motorized ones your talking about and they can be found at just about any parts store. As for installing the actual motorized one, I'm not sure if you would have to replace it or maybe just fix it. If you here the up and down sound I would assume the motor's working. I do know it's a very tight fit in there so I hope you have small hands. Can anyone else give him some info on putting in or fixing the motorized antanae?
