head gasket

If I remove the head to check the gasket, if it is okay can I just put the head back on and reuse the gasket or do you have to buy a new one. and with the valve cover can you use rtv gasket maker to make the valve cover gasket, and what other gaskets can you use rtv gasket maker to make new gaskets with out the larger expense

Yeah you need to buy a new head gasket if your taking it apart.
