New Radiator?

Hi!, I recently had my head gasket replaced. I'm still having a coolant problem. Almost all hoses have been replaced. When I do some city driving, The engine temp guage does not indicate a hot running engine. But what I get is a lot of hissing and gurgling up front near the overflow bottle. I know some of this is normal, as that is the way the system is supposed to work, but I get way to much evaporation of coolant. There are no leaks, I check the ground every day when I pull away. After driving, the coolant bottle will fill up, but after cooling down it goes back to the level line. I check this very thoroughly. I went to my mechaninc. He feels the radiator, which is the original with the 89 NA I own, is clogged. In fact, we drained it down to where we could see the inlets, and they were clogged to the max with crud. I had him order a new radiator. It is costing me $210. I forget the name, I think he said something like Miloni? - not sure. Is this a good price? He assures me the difference will be like night and day. I live in North Jersey and may have to drive to Florida shortly, so I want my coolant system working at max capacity. I have no after market mods for speed, it is strictly stock, with a lot of new parts. Water pump, clutch fan, alternator, cat converter, clutch plate and clutch pump, tps and coolant temp sensor, valve cover gaskets, plust I just put in new plugs, wires, distributor and cap. The car runs extremely well, except for the evaporating coolant. I did a block test before the h.g. replacement and it was leaking. I've tested again after hg was replaced and it is not leaking. Does anyone agree that the new radiator should solve my problems? Does anyone have any other input to help me out. It would be greatly apprciated, especially with this trip coming up. Thanks folks.

Yeah you should be good. As long as you are not overheating. After you put the new radiator in watch the level in the overflow. Make sure you are not "losing" coolant. I'd run another block test if I were you. You have to drain the coolant anyway, you might as well test it again.

Scruffboy __________________ The only way they'll get my Supra is to pry my cold, dead fingers from the steering wheel. 89 N/A Supra, 5 speed, TEMS, Moon Roof, all stock, Black with beautiful Burgundy interior, lots of new parts, oil changed every 3 months like clockwork.
