I can't say its 'way better', as mine is still original with 175k....and I've seen many MKIII's still running originals.
Automatic trans MKIII came with an 80amp, while the manuals came with 70amp. All the ones I could find at the local parts stores for the MR2 are 70amp. Most are external voltage regulators. I think you'd be better off using the 80amp MKIII for the automatic trans model. Any way, what I meant about fan amps is...my 3k cfm fan draws 8amps. I was looking at some other brands, and they draw 10,15,20, or 30amps, and one high volume fan claimed 50amp draw. That's just crazy.
