anti-lock brake system abs question
 

I failed a warrant because the abs warning light didn't come on. I have a repair manual, the workshop manual and a owners manual. However there is a light that does come on, but it displays "esc". This light goes off after three seconds after the ignition key is turned on, and whenever I unplug the abs actuator with the "w" connector the "esc" displays open circuit code.
