An dos the non turbo tranny fit on the turbo engine. if some one can give me some advice or a web sit that would help i would appreciate it. :dunno:

thanks cody

7mge to a 7mgte is pretty much a direct bolt-on...theres no major electrical work you will have to do...though you might want to get a boost meter now that you have a turbo, teh harnesses are exactly the same...as for the computer...i think u might have to switch them..though i never made this swap it would make sense to since now you have boost...though with a piggyback or a standalone im sure you can tune the na ecu into accepting boost and yes..the na tranny does bolt-on to the turbo motor...both are 5 speeds and are the same...unless you are doing an auto to manny conversion then itll be different obviously

the harness between the 2 are not the same, the turbo harness has a few more sensors integrated into it, turbo boost, temp, etc. alot of the sensors have different connectors because of the different parameter of the sensors, differentiating them from the turbo sensor and N/a sensor. the ecu cannot be made to except the turbo boost, different chipset, the ignitor is different, the 2 manual trannys will bolt up but are not the same, the N/a tranny is very weak and synchro's are different and will tear up real quick if you do any speed shifting, which with a turbo ppl tend to do alot. Suggestion, get the harness and ecu and ignitor with the engine your getting. if not, you can get ecu's and harness's on ebay really cheap.

oh damn good correction...i meant to write the harnesses "arent" the same, though i thought the 5spd for the ge was the same as the gte...i may be wrong again..then again i havent done thsi swap so i wouldnt know

cody_18_06 11-07-2005 07:31 PM

so i would have to rewire the engine or will the turbo engine harness plug into the non turbo harness? and will the turbo ecu plug in or will i have to modify?

SupraMan1784 11-07-2005 07:39 PM

wait...why would u plug a turbo harness into an n/a harness? you'll only need one...once u get the turbo motor you can chuck the n/a harness you wont need it, the turbo motor's ecu should be a bolt on also since you alrdy have a turbo motor and u now have a turbo ecu...no need for modification just rip out the n/a ecu and u can chuck that too and plug in the turbo ecu

so i wouldent have to make mods thats cool :bouncy: . i havent orderd the motor yet do you know of any good companys to buy engines from
