thats why if your looking to race a car, well and not have it as a daily driver you should go with the mkII SOOOOO much lighter, and then thing if you strip the interior, and anything else you can,, like gas tank, and putting in a lighter weight fuel cell , A/C setup, lighter rims, etc.. you can probably get her down to about 2400 lbs.

Sounds like you got it down ! I bet its a rush to 'fly' in that car. Think I'll maybe just have to find me one of those mkii's to play with.

Hey any of you follow NHRA compact racing? I'd love to see a supra beat the solaras they got in that bracket. I'm thinking of entering myself, but not sure yet.

Solara is supposed to be the replacement for the Supra in Toyota's lineup

First off, driver makes a LOT of difference, if she doesn't know how to race it, and you know how to race yours, you have a really good chance.

2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP:
0-60: 6.8
1/4 mile: 15.1

1989 Toyota Supra Turbo:
0-60: 6.6
1/4 mile: 15.2

With numbers that close, it's really up to the driver IMHO...

Yea, you are right the driver has to do alot with the car. I will problably go the next month 8.20 or 8.21 to the Moroso Motorsports park FL. to check them all out.

if you both really want to put yer money were yer mouth is,go to th local autocross/road/infeild track and have a neutral person time each of your laps,1/4 mile racing is for the lazy racer unless you have 600 hp,that can make it challanging.anyhow if you are a better driver with the better car it will absolutly show when you are in a more demanding environment, skill is what you want to measure, not cubic inches.

to begin with, the GTP is an automatic so anyone can sit behind the wheel and push the pedal to the mat, and secondly, can your supra beat a 5.0L mustang? didn't think so, there for the GTP would beat you, sorry man i have a supra to but the GTP is known as a mustang killer for a reason. i have a few buddys with supras with mods done to them and they can't beat a GTP. theres no way.

I cant belive you have doughts about this GTP vs Turbo supra.... GTP= heavy, front drive, auto, and its stock. My car stock with a filter kit and no mufflers and 120k was killing brand new mustang cobras off the lot in 2000, and the gtp is in no way (stock anyways) in the supras class!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont care about the nubers or stats a GTP is slow............

u were blowing 00 mustang cobras in an 89 stock turbo supra...mmm... i dunno bout that i had an 89 with a stock 7m...it was hard to keep up with a mustang cobra...waay too much torque...after a couple bpu...and some upgrades i could take them...but stock....either cobra wasnt trying...or the driver dint know how to drive...im def a supra guy....so an 89 turbo vs. an sc gtp....tough call....right now my car wit the 1jz would blow that out tha water same with the 7m right before i sold it...stock with minor upgrades... the gtp would take you off the line for sure...its lower rpms will have a lot of power...since its auto..theres no misshifting and they can just pound the pedal...both cars are heavy...you will ahve to make up a lot of ground at the upper rpms...assuming urs is 5spd...its a close call...if you have the right upgrades...basic upgrades..then u might take it...but you wont kill it...you will by a small margin....if you have basic upgrades...but not enough...like just an intake but no exhaust no headers nothing else...then you will most likely lose....by a small if not maybe a car length...if you know how to drive and you can get a good launch you will have a better chance of winning.. this one is up in teh air...just race....itll be funny cause u got beat by ur girl's mom...but itll be a good benchmark in what you have to improve.... though not the best way to boost your pride and self-confidence...if you lose that is

I had a k&n fipk and 2.5 strait pipe and most of the modded stangs could not keep up and that was a long time ago, and the OLD motor. I was not racing no shit v6"s either. Most people cant drive either . Ther is a guy with a 98 boss mustang its fast , back then my car would not win that race but I try as soon as I get next to him with my new setup!!!!!! I dont know I was working the other day and seen him and that car is wicked loud now
