1988 turbo supra. Seems like I'm not getting the turbo boost I should.
When it kicks in the gauge goes to about +1 max. (no boost at -4, needle only will reach +1 when floored) This stock gauge of course goes to +8. I found cracks in the turbo inlet pipe. Replaced with nice steel one and put on a K&N filter kit. All other in/out hoses seem in good shape. What could be the problem? |

By the way...turned out since I now live at 7,000 ft, the main culprate for the low boost was altitude. I have modified the turbo and put an electronic boost controller on it. It will still only boost to about 6 lb at 7000 ft, but so far I've boosted to 12 lb's at Willow Springs track which is about 2700 feet above sea level. I see you live in CA. Can you recomend a good 'tuner' shop with a dyno tuner? I have a fuel cut defencer, electronic boost controller, 550cc injectors, modified turbo to 38 trim, intake, catback exhaust, metal head gasket with ARP bolts, TEIN flex, Toyo RA1's, and a few other things. I don't think I'm getting the full potential and think maybe a good 'tuner' on a dyno can pull it all together. I'm in Big Bear Lake so Ontario, Redlands, Riverside OR Victorville area would be best. Thanks in advance. |
