I would love more pics of the engine, ie. different angles and close ups. I'm curious as to the turbo, IC, and IC piping set up. The first thing I notice is that instead of coil pacs, you have a distributor which I find peculiar for a turbo. It leads me to think that this is not the stock set up. I would check the VIN. There are a few ways of doing that, but there is only one free way that I know of. Find an Asst. Manager or Service Writer at a Toyota dealership and they can pull up the VIN specific info. I got a Asst Sales Manager to pull up the original Sales sheet, (The one you see on windows of new cars, only a print out), of my Supra.

This is all my personal opinion, but since you asked...
The wheels look like crap. Can't really say if it's the style or the black color, but they really detract from the look of the car. Never cared for the that style of seat. If you're going for a pure-performance setup it would be a different situation, but with the speaker boxes and other stuff that's obviously not what you're going for. ABS has been pulled. Why? It's a safety feature. And you've got jury-rigged wiring strung around in the engine compartment. Sloppy. As I said, just my 2 cents. If you're happy with it, that's what matters. |
how could you tell the ABS was pulled?
as for the wiring, the previous owner hooked up fog lights and he did a sloppy job. i agree i'm either gonna make it look better or just get rid of the fog lights there is also a wire for the subs and i love my rims. lol. but i'm thinking of painting my car black might suit it better i'm aware that the car still needs a lot of work but i just wanted to see what people thought so far thanks for the feedback the original sales sheet may be hard to find as i am pretty sure this car was privately imported from Japan i am going to take more pics and post them very soon though |
ABS was an option. Your's probably didn't come with it. The 2.0gt is the economy model in japan. I'm not sure but I think they all came with a narrow body version of the fenders.
The cars looks to be in good shape, but it needs a ton of clean up work and upgrading. Lose the wing and speakers. |
so i've made a few changes
still got the wing but I'm getting rid of the subs because it's like having another person in the car I bought new gold rims that work alot better with the car and I cleanded my engine bay out. Took some time to get rid of 23 years of built up grime I will try to post some pictures soon. She's lookin alot better. lol I am hoping for a 2jz swap in the future. This 2.0L just doesn't have the power I need |

i like what you did with the body, is that custom. im new and im looking around to change my bumper covers as well. whats the drop? 1.6" front and 1.3" in back.

wing is def. a bit of an eye sore for me. can't imagine the drag it puts on the car cruising down the highway. First thing i noticed(apart from the sweet spoiler) was the autotragic transmission.. So if you do swap in a 2jz maybe grab a manual gear box with it. you'll like it!

I am definitely planning on throwing a manual in even though the difference between an auto 2jz and a manual 2jz is about $4000. It's insane
I would have never put the wing there myself but I do think it works well with the car and I have never seen another Supra with a wing like it I don't want it to look like every other Supra out there and I don't know if I'll ever get rid of it. The other downside is that it makes it much easier to throw me into the "ricer" category which is something I never want to be part of The kit is a Bomex body kit and I'm not sure how much it was lowered as that was done before I bought it At this point I'm satisfied with the appearance of my car and I just want to focus on performance I really should get some pics up to show you guys how much better it looks |
I'm pretty sure you can get a new bell housing and then be able to use the r154. If you where thinking of using the 6spd, from what I understand fabrication is involved on the tranny tunnel.

okay I was too lazy
now my car is sitting in storage and I never took a picture hopefully I'll remember once I take it out next summer waiting for a write off mk4 Supra with a 2jz to hopefully go on auction right away so I can rebuild the engine over the winter |

man i`m sorry that i will post this here but i never had a opportunity to drive a right hand drive car so can`t imagine my self drifting it . the first thing that i will do is trow my self out the door cause i will confuse the e-brake with the door handle.:crazy2: take care bro.

R u going to put the other half of the interior back in I had my interior out for a day to clean and dye it black and everything got louder it sounded like the exhaust was in the car. Like the body kit

not sure if this tranny could handle very much power though and Minymurf the seats were in the car when I bought it so I don't know sorry. also you have a single turbo 1ggte? i thought they only came twin or did you convert it to single? |
ahh ok. dam.
nah it was a twin turbo, but the setup was running hell dodgy so the guy before me chucked a big turbo in it instead :D |
How did you get that spoiler to fit on there? The space on there is really narrow. I've been wanting to do it to my MK3 but I fear of buying something too big.

I'll agree that the speakers have to go but the wing looks neat and the seats must've cost quite a bit to get let alone the trouble to put in. I say it's awesome. I want a wing on my 86.5 >.> I feel that narrow strip is too small though.

He drives a Toyota, stop pickin on him. :stickpoke *poke* Working on a similar project on my 86.5... Swapping in the 1ggte and looking for a flywheel, clutch and pressure plate... Canada is close enough for me, however Austrailia is not really ideal. Anyone hear anything pm me. |

I'm worried about the wiring around the engine. Looks like someone did a sloppy job after swapping in that engine, it does not appear to be your factory engine That is certainly a none turbo distributor! That MAF sensor is from a none turbo engine and is restricting air flow! I'm thinking you should check and see exactly what ECU you have amd check the wire harness for any cuts or unplugged sensors. You may be running dangerously lean with the wrong electronics. You may have a originally none turbo, with a swapped engine. You should definitely find out exactly what engine you have. I'm no 1g expert. |
It's not a swap and the VAFM and distributor are fine. That's a 1G-GTE. They're not common and not something you're likely to ever see in person. It's a twin turbo, 2 liter, inline 6 which was only sold in Japan. As for the wiring, well, I hope he's figured it out in the FOUR YEARS since he started this thread.

hey man have you done anything else to your engine/car? I've always been curious about the 1g-gte's capability.. Have you done any chassis mods? I do believe the 1g is the lightest engine that went into the mk3 chassis, so overall from what I've seen the GA70 is almost 250 lbs lighter than our MA70. (It would be great if this can be confirmed.) This would be reason enough to try and track this thing at auto X... BTW, I know the engine weight itself doesn't account for the weight difference.
