The new Supra not a Supra?

Guys, I think we've been bamboozled. The next Toyota supercar looks like it will be a Lexus. http://www.fastfever.com/?gid=64 . I think they've retired 'Supra' forever.

SlickSupra 11-04-2009 09:44 AM

the new "supra" looks ok, but nothing look better then the mk4

Hitman2021MkIII 02-04-2010 12:34 PM

I don't think it will be retired forever, like the new corolla ae86 coming back. I forgot the name of the new rear wheel drive corolla. But I think it will come back in another 10 years to keep people waiting.

MaysTG13 04-01-2010 10:09 PM

I hope not. The Supra is such an amazing car and I have no clue why they would retire it.

super83 04-02-2010 02:15 AM

new supra IS coming in due time and yes they are brining the ae86 back some how too

MaysTG13 04-09-2010 08:03 PM

Which concept will be the new supra?

907mge 05-03-2010 01:40 AM

Yes there is talk of bringing back the celica in rearwheel drive form powered by a subaru engine but as far as the supra goes it has been replaced by something that starts out closer to a super car and a higher price.

The new toyota supercars won't just be Lexus cuz they are brigning back the new ft86 with the subaru evo engine.

I think it's pretty cool.
The Mk4 Supra will always be regarded as one of the best Japanese supercars ever. I think that is a given.

907mge 05-08-2010 02:31 AM

yeah piston no go up and down piston go side ways

batmmannn 06-11-2010 03:25 AM

I saw the LFA on Top Gear. The price works out to be about 1/2 Mil. It ain't me (unless I win the Lotto). I wonder what the MPGs are.

907mge 06-13-2010 02:12 AM

You could have 3 fully modded mk4's for the price of a LFA.

check out the $400,000 Lexus LFA beat out the Nissan GTR by 1/2 second

i understand a litlle bit of the reasoning as tho why both the celica and the supra was cut. I belive the supra was just one of the unfortionate cars to get the axe due to the increasing gas prices and the downturn of "Real sports cars" (new mustangs are not in that catagory, 31mpg my butt). As for the Celica after the switch to FWD it fell apart. Nobody needs another sporty fuel efficient car.

gloreboy89 08-19-2010 09:04 PM

dam i forgot my original point. the new LFA is probably another plot for Toyota to milk more money out of stupid rich American(Im not saying all Americans are stupid) Think about it Lexus is based Where?

Ranma 08-31-2010 02:10 PM

shrugs

Understand, a lot of "rich" people are not very sharp when buying cars. Tiger Woods driving a fancy Chev was disappointing.
Do not think I would waste my money. My current main ride is a 2009 Honda Civic EXL. I drive it to work and on long trips. I did not get the SI since all it came with was a 6 speed and did not wish to play with it in the often heavy traffic of "dysfunction" junction. I was not at all impressed with the Corolla or Camry.
My view is we are going to have and keep our Supras operational. There are no new ones to replace them and the "sports" cars sold today are troublesome. My co-worker bought a new Challenger and it is already developing problems  Don't get me going about the Camero or Mustang. :rolleyes2The word in Japanese is "sodai-gomi" or garbage that you have to pay to dispose.

zweb620 02-02-2011 06:16 PM

Fail!!! There will not be a new Supra BUT there will be a new Scion FR-S based on the Supra. You probably also know this as the Toyota FT-86 Concept. The reason this car will be a Scion instead of a Toyota is because Subaru and Toyota feel that manufacturing a car like this for Scion will get the attention of young (ricy) drivers. Subaru will also be making their own model called the 216A.

supraturbo_mk3 02-06-2011 08:28 PM
