The fuse is there to keep too much current from going thru the wiring. A safety net. When it hits over the peak amperage the fuse blows thus saving your wiring. If you put in a higher amperage fuse it lets more current go thru the wiring which may cause a fire. Remember the wiring on the car is a very thin gauge wire. It doesn't take that much to heat them up.
