Default 87 supra brake lights

Hey guys! I bought an 87 supra (non-turbo) and driving it around for the first hour or so was absolutely incredible, mainly because its my first car, but also that its exactly what i wanted. I noticed the brake lights weren't coming on. I checked my bulbs which needed to be replaced, so i replaced those and I checked my fuse which was in excelent condition, I also checked the relay which wasnt any good so I replaced that. I had my sister's husband come over and check it out when it still wasnt working. We checked power readings from the fuse box and the light holder in the back and we found that we get voltage off both wire circuits in the tail light section at the same time. The wires also get odd power spikes. The other lights work fine, but pressing on the brake pedal doesnt activate the lights. We checked the brake switch and it seems to be working fine. So after reading this long post, would the brake light on the hatchback part of the car have anything to do with why the brake light wont come on? That light doesnt work as well, infact I will have to search for a replacement fixture since the whole piece is pretty much wasted. Any help? My brake light failure sensor also does not work, we also have the repair manual but its not very good on explaining where that part is located.
Thanx

The brake light failure switch is under the drivers side brake lights. It's a little yellow box.

oh ok thanks. Do you think that would be part of the problem of why the brake lights aren't coming on?

I'm pretty sure it's all of the problem. That happened to mine. I got ripped off to get it fixed. The shop charged me almost 200 to diagnose/fix that and charge my a/c. U can get it off of ebay for around $3. For example....

and its definitely not $6 to ship it. it weighs almost nothing.
