Exclamation head gas kit problem

can any one help me find out which head gas kit is the best for the MKIII 88? im changeing it not because of blown head. im just doing it beacuse the moter is out of car. so i don't want to go doing it agian later when the moter is back in.

which one will fit right in. thank you.
HKS 2.0 mm thick 86.0 mm Bore
HKS 2.1 mm thick 86.0 mm Bore
Greddy 1.5 mm thick either 83 or 85 mm Bore

its just because of the bore # keep on changing its geting me confuse

one more thing is it true that once u change the head gas kit to the metal head gas kit do u have to replace all new head bolts?

Default Hrm..

I think the thicker head gaskets (2mm, 2.1, etc) are thicker than stock (stock is 1.2 or something like that, not sure) because, usually, you need to PREPARE your motor for the Metal HG. By "prepare", I mean you have to get the block and head machined, you know, so the area that will "press" the gasket is "perfectly plain". I hope you could understand this, heh.

So, when doing that, it usually takes away a few thousands/hundreds of a mm, therefore, needing a thicker headgasket to make up for it, and don't raise or decrease compression. I could be wrong though, so don't listen to me.

Use ARP bolts for the head, I've heard it's well worth their value, and the stock bolts came torqued pretty weakly.

I believe its 3.267". Too lazy to convert it to mms. Get the head and block milled and lapped. Tell them to make it as smooth as machinely possible. Otherwise the MHG wont seal correctly.
