Thinking of getting a new intake system on my completely stock na supra. Is the fipk system a good place to start? Cause frankly its all I can afford atm...Or should I wait until I get afford intake as well as exhaust?
Also, Do I just order this: http://suprastore.com/knfipairinsy.html and put it on and thats all I should bother with intake? I've heard that the stock intake piping is quite restrictive so should I replace that too? If so where would I get new intake piping? Or should I not bother with that since I have a stock na engine (although I might go na-t somewhere in the future...distant future that is). Thanks! |

Get an exhaust also. The Apex-i intake filter has better flow numbers than the K&N.

Got any pictures of an apex-i after installation? Does it just bolt onto the stock afm like the k8n fipk?
So apex-i is best intake system I can get? I wont see any improvements at all by just adding this intake system w/o adding an exhaust system as well? (btw, I do plan on getting exhaust in the future but theyre just so expensive and I want to modify my car after having it for 3 years :P) Also, do these cai systems make the whooshing sound that I've heard about? If so, is it very noticeable from inside/outside the car? Last edited by Black'88; 04-01-2006 at 04:04 AM. |

I dont have pics after installation. Apex-i did have better flow numbers than the K&N filter. You would have a little gain without exhaust. None noticable though. And I had a cheepo one from Pep Boys that made the wooshing sound if i stomped on the gas. But I couldnt hear it from inside the car. I'd have to pull on the throttle cable in the engine bay to hear it. But in higher RPM mine started to hiss and sounds almost like a turbo. But the car next to u can hear it if they had their windows open and u went wide open throttle right away.

the Apex-i filter does not fit NA supras. the bolt placement on the AFM is different for turbos and NA. I went through this problem. I ordered the Apexi from my tune up shop, and it didnt specify that it was for turbo at all. when i got it, took it home and it didnt fit. took it back, they called apex-i and then they said it was for turbo not NA. which they never said on their site at all. The bolts line up differently on the 2 AFMs. So i had to end up getting the K&N
