Default Instument Cluster and Back lights don't turn on!

When my turn on my lights the instrument cluster does not light up, neither do the back lights (so can't drive at night). The brake lights do work. I just noticed that when I press down on the brake peddal an "icon" on the instument cluster light up! It's a pic of the rear of the car with lines on it. I've checked all fuses, good. Have checked the relay (w/out power), seems okay.

Does anyone have any ideas, any help would be great! Tired of not being able to drive at night.

Thanks,

the brake light warning is a false system its a one time use thing, it dosent matter if it comes on as long as you got your brake lights working i say your good.
and about your dashif its not the fuses maybe its the bulbs itself ,have you tried getting behind it? there's a write up with s.o.g.i. , i only recomend this if your really gonna change the bulbs and not going in there jus for a look cuz its a lot of screws, if you are gonna attempt to open it, i recommend ziplock bags and marker so you can keep em together and you know where the screw came from

if not there's still a solution, i dunt know if you guys have it where you live
my dashlights were too dim so i got those 3 light l.e.d. projectors they're jus 10 bucks works nicely check the pics

There is a yellow box under the drivers side tail light. Replace it. That'll fix ur taillight problem. And try the dimmer switch? Not being a smartass, a lot of people dont realize its there.

Paul, did you do anything before they stopped working (dash lights that is), or have they ever worked for you? did they all suddenly stop working? Its silly I know but did you mess with the dimmer to see if anything happens?

Pulling the dash out isnt that hard really (I just did it 3 times in the last 2 days...sigh* but thats a different thread) you need to pull the climate/stereo bezel, the switch pod on the left side and then the beauty cover before you can get to all the dash screws. almost all the screws are the same size and type so getting em back in is simple.

If you've already checked the fuses and the dimmer, your probably gonna have to pull the dash out and see if anything is unplugged and to check your bulbs. if you do that, the only bulbs to concern yourself with are the ones with the green sockets, there are 5 of them. They are standard bulbs with little green condoms on them...now would be a good time to change the bulbs to the color of your chioce if you wanted to do that.

Let us know how it goes

Well having done it a few times I know I can get it out in 15-20 minutes...if youve never done it, and like me are careful so you dont break anything or lose any screws...30 minutes.

Simple run down of proceedure:
  1. unscrew shit knob
  2. remove ashtray
  3. pull 5 screws and pull off climate/stereo bezel w/ashtray slide in tow
  4. remove 1 screw from bottom of switch pod
  5. pull off switch pod, (you can just let it hang or unplug it)
  6. remove 7 (i think) screws from beauty cover above cluster, drop it down and out the rest of the way.
  7. remove the remaining screws holding cluster in place (when pulling the cluster out it helps if you pull towards you from the bottom and out toward the drivers door some...then unplug the 5 or so plugs in back)
Just reverse to get it back in...not really anything scary about it, only precaution is to try to keep the wires up out of the way of the speedo cable socket...and it should go back in smoothly.

Take a look at the bulbs and sockets for the tail lights.
